Trilingual Policy
THE LANGUAGES
IS A TRILINGUAL POLICY NECESSARY OR NOT?
India's trilingual policy. This policy is widely spoken throughout the southern states.
WHAT IS THE TRILINGUAL POLICY?
School students should choose a language other than their mother tongue and English and accept it as a subject. For example, my mother tongue is Tamil, and not English, which is a widely spoken language all over the world, and a third language like Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam or Hindi, should be studied as my preferred language subject. The trilingual policy is that.
THE REASON FOR IMPLEMENTING THE TRILINGUAL POLICY IN INDIA?
The Union Government believes that learning Hindi, the second most widely spoken language in India after the mother tongue and English, will increase job opportunities in the country. This is the Union Government's claim.
IS HINDI THE NATIONAL LANGUAGE!
Hindi is a commonly spoken Indian language, but it is not the national language. The debate that there is no such thing as a national language for India has been put to an end as soon as the language debate arose. But now, according to the Trilingual Policy, the Union Government is trying to bring Hindi to states where Hindi is not spoken through the Trilingual Policy.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LEARNING HINDI ?
Like other languages, Indian is a language spoken in India and does not have any unique elements, but there are some unique languages. How is Hindi a unique language and the only language? The world-famous and world-famous book Thirukkural is in Tamil. Is there any evidence to prove that Hindi is a unique language? Only if a language is unique, it will be attracted by many and help them choose it as an optional subject, but the benefits available to an individual should be greater.
HOW CAN YOU GET A JOB IF YOU LEARN MULTIPLE LANGUAGES?
A person speaks his mother tongue from the day he is born and starts speaking, then he learns English, which is a global language in school, and then he learns some other languages as his personal choice. It is a personal decision of an individual, but here the government shows that you should learn a third language, which creates an argument called language imposition.
There is no intention to teach a language, there is no intention to teach a specific language, it is language imposition. We have to accept that.
DIFFICULTY IN LEARNING LANGUAGE IN SCHOOL
Normally, five subjects are taught daily in schools, some of which change according to each state. If a third language is to be taught, a teacher must be appointed for that. There are more than a thousand schools in a state, including primary schools, middle schools, high schools, and higher secondary schools.
In this situation, some teachers should be appointed for that in the respective schools. Is this possible? Of course not, because there is already a shortage of teachers teaching language, and there may be a shortage or shortage of teachers appointed to teach a new language. More than 90,000 students failed the Hindi language test in the public examination released in 2004. This incident happened in the state of Karnataka, where the three-language policy is in effect. Therefore, educators criticize it as evidence that Hindi knowledge has little chance of being useful in the future.
SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES
A person must first learn and master at least five subjects from his schooling to college, which include two languages, mother tongue and English, and three mathematics and science, social science. These may vary in some states.
The Union Government has allocated ₹1.28 trillion for education in the current year
In the Union Budget for the year 2025-26, the Government of India has allocated ₹1.28 trillion for education.
Last year (2024-25)
The Ministry of Education received ₹1.20 trillion. This is an increase of 6.5% compared to the previous year.
It is a false statement that learning a language is less likely to be difficult, but only with language will there be opportunities. In this era, a language can help improve one's life, that is, the role of language in the economic development of a person is less. Economic development is achieved according to one's ability. Learning a language is an individual right and it is not realistic for others to comment on it.
